What part does what you eat play in your weight loss your first few months? Meaning if I am eating only 3 times a day and my calorie intake is no more than 1000, I should theorhetically lose right?

I honestly don't really know...  I'm just sticking to my doctors plan.  But i'm not even on regular foods yet.... im in the "Soft foods" stage.  So i eat soups, vegatables that are cooked very very soft,  boxed mashed potatoes (low fat/ low cal) you get the gist.... Once you are on regular foods though, im really not sure what to eat.... they haven't been over that with me.  But i don't think for my specific diet im supposed to reach 1200 calories until a year out.... but im sure its diffrent depending on the surgery!  I'm not sure if this was helpful.... id say just do what your doctor says and make sure the foods aren't high carb or high fat!  Good luck! Sure, one can say that due the low intake of food calorie wise... but protein and water is what the body will thrive on.  If one is eating bread and what not, he shouldn't expect to lose the weight as quickly. I followed my doc's protocol to a T... was able to drop 150 pounds in nine months.  The rest has been a struggle and I've seen my share of stalls throughout the journey.  But we do have to realize our bodies need time... weeks even to adjust to the shock we've given it. Good Luck!

The more things the change, the more they're still the same.

Things just arnt that black and white. The body is a thing of mystery and everybody looses differently. You ask if you should theorhetically lose - well it depends on what you mean by lose - some people lose a chunk of weight then stop... during this point they may or may not be losing inches. some people lose steady, some people dont... some have big numbers, others smaller. If you are thinking you will always see the scale move, it just wont happen everytime.  What you eat does play into your weightloss each and everyday - you need to be eating enough, eating balanced and following surgeon/nuts guidelines. Even if you are 110% compliant you still may not see the results you want - its just a matter of being patient. The surgery is a tool, it takes time to work... sadly you dont just wake up skinny ;-)
