Eatin' Good in the 20's Neighborhood - Thursday
It's all good. Well, the passed away grandma isn't good, but everything is settling down so I think I will survive. And I did eat 2 nutter butter peanut butter cookies. But at least it was just 2.
Yesterday we (DH and I) drove from Wisconsin to the very west part of Ohio and stayed overnight with my in-laws, and now I'm in our hotel in the very eastern part of Indiana. We were going to stay with the in-laws until after the funeral on Sunday, but I might have had to kill myself (they are wonderful people....I just can't take too much at a time of the wonderfulness...), so I talked DH into getting a hotel with high speed internet so I can "write my papers" and otherwise "prepare for finals". And there is also a hot tub downstairs. That had a little bit to do with the hotel choice. But don't tell DH.
I found out today that I am very not helpful in funeral planning...I make stupid jokes in an attempt to lighten the mood and it gets me in trouble. So I think it is better for all involved if I just stick around for moral support and write my papers. And that gets me to...
TIME TO EAT!
Yesterday was road food - a snack wrap from McDonalds in Illinois (minus the dressing and 1/2 the tortilla), 3 oz corn nuts in western Illinois, and a hardshell taco in Indianapolis. So today was supposed to be making up for it but the in-laws don't understand that there are some things I really just shouldn't eat and I was at their mercy until about 4 - I was very lucky to have 1/2 hour to myself this morning so I could escape the donuts and bagels they had at the house and go get a coffee from starbucks. I know it isn't their fault that I can't eat crap, I just wish my mother-in-law wouldn't look so wounded when I turn down glazed donuts of death. So this is not the greatest food day either...
9am - 12 oz sf ff caramel macchiato
20 oz water
Noon - 1/2 a 6 inch Italian BMT w/ ham, pepperoni, salami, lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, and red onion
20 oz water, 3 oz peanut M&M's
And tonight I'm going back to the in-laws for BBQ chicken on the grill. I begged my father-in-law to leave me a bare chicken thigh, but he had an evil twinkle in his eye so if I end up with chicken thigh soaked in brown-sugar BBQ sauce I think I'm going to stick with potato salad.
So, are you eatin' good?
