Blackout Update
First - to get everyone up to speed, here is my org message:
"Here is the problem. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this....
When I get up out of my chair quickly or bend over while picking something up, shaving my legs, tieing my shoe, etc....I all of a sudden get very light headed and my vision starts to get spotty and then I blackout and fall on the floor. I only blackout for about 2 secs. We are not talking minutes or hours. I go in for blood work on Friday and see my doc on Monday; however it is not my RNY doc. My doc has lots of experience with paitients like us and he is Internal Medicine....so I know I am not spinning my wheels by making a trip to see him. I see my RNY doc the 1st part of Jun.....therefore I am going to wait until then to go and see him.
Anyway - I was just wondering if anyone else has had these problems? I don't even know if it could be related to my surgery! I am guessing that it is.
Would love to hear input from all of you. Thanks ahead of time for the support!"
I saw my Doc on Monday and he had already gotten my bloodwork back and said that all of my levels were normal! YEAH for that. Anyway, I told him what was going on and he said that basically I have Low Blood Pressure as a result of my weight loss. He said that my blood vessels are still big and haven't shrunk yet to where they should be. He did say that it will correct itself over time. He said I had two options in the meantime to correct the problem. 1) To start taking salt tables so it constricts my blood vessels or 2) Put me on a prescription to raise my blood pressure. He and I both wanted to try the natural way first. However, I stopped at Walgreens yesterday to get some salt tablets and they have never heard of them! Frustrating! Now I am on the hunt. Doc says use the tablets so I can keep up with how much I am intaking. At least it wasn't something terrible! I am happy about that. The fix was an easy one!!! Thanks Everyone! ______________________ Sarah RNY - 8/14/07 337 / 209 / 165

Hi I have blackouted out too.. definately from bending over and say picking something off the floor. I was told I need to eat more salt. Ever since then I have been ok.
No problem everyone! I can't believe I remembered to post the update.
I am still trying to find salt tablets. My honey said that he saw some at our pharmacy back home so he is going to bring me some.
Oh yeah, I am on TDY for 140 days in Ft. Worth and I live right next to Ft. Smith, Arkansas.....so I am homesick and everything that goes along with being away from home! Anyone live in Ft. Worth?
