Last Supper
So, I have my surgery date for May 21st. Since I have found out, I've started eating like its the last time I will taste any food. I know i will be able to eat agian, but my choices are going back to pre surgery weight loss. Has anyone had this happen.. How do i snap out of it?? I really don't want to go back and have my surgery cancled becuase I gained 10 pounds in a month. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Welcome to OH!
I gained 8 pounds on "last suppers" thinking I'd never eat "good food" again. Trust me after a few weeks of liquids and pureeds (which kinda sucks no matter what you do) you will be eating great food. I promise. Take a look at my blog www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com I post all the things I've eaten since my surgery 22 months ago. It's my Public Service Announcement so others don't make the same mistake I did.
Hope this helps,
~Michelle

Hi there! Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions for you because I'm kind of in the same boat. My surgery is May 20th. The nutritionist told me that if I could lose even just a little weight prior to surgery, the doc may be impressed because they know how serious I am, and be confident that I am a good candidate for this. But duuuuude it's kinda hard, but I'm tryin my best ;]
I was horrible when it came to this....I did the exact same thing and gained 8 pounds from the consultation to my surgery date.....luckily my surgeon did not require me to lose any weight before my surgery...but still...it was horrible!!!!!!!! Not much you can do, but just remember, you will get to eat and savor food still...just smaller amounts! :)
I actually did the opposite when I was getting ready to have my surgery...I felt terrible if I overindulged in food...It was strange. I did have a good "last supper" with a table full of my "girlfriends" and some family. I thought at that time I will never eat this again and was horribly sad. I even made Jello desserts in the little medicine cups they give you to eat and drink out of after surgery. They loved that concept...cute idea too...1 year out (yesterday) I am able to eat and enjoy those foods again and have been doing so for a while...It all comes down to portions. I know that sounds simple but it really does. I don't eat as much of this so I can have more of that...Its all a "game" to me...Hope this helps good luck with the surgery!! Best of LUck!
