Alcohol Question
First you should talk to your surgeon about their feelings and why they feel that way.
My surgeon would prefer never... but he said a year would be the best... if not at least the first 6 months.
During the first 6 months you are in the Massive Weight Loss (MWL) period and your liver is going thru a lot - really not fair to dump alcohol onto it as well. Plus at that time you can maximize your weight loss.. why do the empty calories?
I waited 6 or 7 months or so. For me losing the weight was more important than having the drinks early out.

I was told to wait six months, and I did....Like other RNY'ers, I feel the effects much more easily now. I can start to feel intoxicated before even finishing a beer. While I was in Ireland I was actually kicked out of a pub for having "had enough" - I only had three pints! but, here is one thing to watch out for that has happened to me - Occasionally, after or during drinking I feel like my blood sugar crashes and get pail and weak, so i have to sit or lie down and eat something with sugar in it...wierd huh?
