Kinda personal Q's....skin!!!

So, since we’re all on the young side for having WLS...how has your "journey" been in regards to your skin elasticity?

I’m concerned about my double chin! OH how I HATE it!! I’m worried that I’ll lose my 100lbs, and yet I’ll still have this big skin flap under my chin, wagging away in the breeze. Also, on a more personal note (to you girls out there) the boobs! I’ve always been well endowed, but then again I’ve always been overweight! What if they shrink away to nothing??

What of one decides to shrink away and they other one HANGS around? *lol*

I’m totally getting the surgery no matter what.. I have too many problems with feet, and my knee, etc., and I want to FEEL better! But I still can’t help but wonder!

So, basically, how has everyone in their 20's been doing in regards to the skin going back to a normal shape, is the overall theme of this post. : )

I think in regards to the skin question, like almost everything else, it really depends on the individual. The real reason I wanted to reply, was to tell you that I think you will be happy with your decision in regards to your feet/knee issues. I have a really rare chronic condition in my legs that was almost debilitating before surgery (on my legs) several years ago. Since I dropped the weight, I can't tell you how much less pain I feel and how many things I can do now that I couldn't 6 months ago. It really has made a ton of difference. I bet you will be very happy and if in the future you do have loose skin, all you'll have to do is ask yourself which is worse: loose skin or trouble walking? No contest in my experience and my opinion. Just my two cents. Cheers,

I can only comment on my personal experience..... I had a very large face pre-op and am not having any problems with any loose skin around my face at all....my double chin didn't turn into flabby skin, luckily!!!  haha :) Also, as for the boobs...it's sad, but true...they DO shrink...but, the weight loss is well worth the shrinking boobies!  I am planning on getting them done with PS someday to get them back to how they used to be...nothing too extreme, just back to normal.  AND...just to let you know, they seem to be shrinking at the same rate!!! HAHA... lol My legs weren't that large, so I don't have a lot of extra skin on my legs or around my knees, I am finding the most extra skin is my belly and arms.  I think my arms are really bad, but others disagree saying they aren't bad at all...maybe it's all in my head, but I'm really self-conscious about my arms!!!  (even more so than my excess tummy skin!)   My doctor said younger age does help with skin elasticity, and how long you have been as large as you are could also dictate how it might bounce back....but...he did tell me exercise really doesn't help at all!!!  Oh well...I'm still lifting weights hoping it might help out my arms!!!  lol... Hope this helps some!!!

I'm not even 3 months out an my double chin is soo much smaller.  20 more pounds and I predict it will be gone (woohoo!)  No saggy face skin! I have also been well endowed all my life.  My bra size is going down but a lot of it is "back fat".  I'm still a 40DD (started 44DD).  Look around your family, mom, aunts, sisters...are they well endowed too?  If so, you're probably meant to be busty.  They'll likely shrink down to a proportionate size.  I'm predicting 36-38D for myself based on family genes. My belly will be saggy and so will my thighs but then I've had a kid AND I've carried weight in my thighs since the dawn of time.  Luckily, my calves look great so I can rock some skirts LOL

wow! well, thanks a lot guys! a lot of this is encouraging actually. and i know what you're talking about Aaron, with the pain thing. It's sooo bad now, and old knee injury, and multiple problems with my feet...they hurt 24/7 and i'm just so tired of hurting!  that and other health issues are really the main reason i want the surgery.

I've gone on one other diet once, where i lost weight quickly (lost 50lbs, for my wedding actually. Only got to a size 16, and then promptly gained some back on the honeymoon!)  i stayed about 210-215 for almost 2 years, but it just seemed like i made some saggy skin, and it never got any better! then when i finally gained some more weight, it just showed up so annoyingly!  I guess since i've never really been thin, i keep getting all worked up about how my skin will react THIS time...i just can't really fathom that it won't come back...and i'll be losing enough to really make a dramatic difference in how i appear.   i

I've been looking into Plastic Surgery, and was really surprised to see that you can actually get your insurance to pay for some of it!  Some people have had total lower body lifts paid for! I was just hoping i may not be one of those to have it done.

But, i do feel a lot better reading your posts guys! I'm not truly vain, but hey, i've been used to my body being one way all my life! *lol* I have to get know what to expect from the 'new me" right??? : )
