Slightly OT: What does everyone do for headaches?

I have literally had a headache for 4 weeks.  It comes and goes, but not a day has gone by since the very beginning of March where I haven't had one.  It's right at the base of my skull and spreads to the back of my head and makes my brain try to escape through my forehead.  Before my WLS and official beginning of life without NSAIDS I would have taken some Aleve or Bayer - but alas - I am not allowed.  If I weren't having the complication that will not die I might just take one or two to get me through the day, but I really don't dare chance it.   So, what do my fellow post-ops take?

Have you talked to the Dr about it? Sounds like its something more than a simple headache if it keeps comming and going. Perhaps allergies? Food allergy youve developed? *shrug* chemical allergy? I take plain ole aspirin... if its really bad Ill get a little sugar and/or caffeine to go with it.  There is that homeopathic stuff you put on your forehead to stop a headache, havent tried it so I dont know how it works.

I carry all of the stress in my life between my shoulder blades and in my neck, so when I get busy or stressed out I get headaches like this.  Caffine might help...and come to think of it I haven't had my normal espresso concoction this morning...hopefully that and some tylenol will do the trick for now.

Thats where I hold my stress too... maybe check out getting a massage, seeing a chiro, getting acupuncture or doing some yoga :-) Anything that will help to reduce stress!

I was told I couldn't have NSAIDS either (although I'm VSG) and when I asked one of the surgeons who works with my surgeon he said they will allow their patients to take Advil Liqui-Gels.  But otherwise, I just take acetominophen.    Sorry I'm not much help, but I know that's at least what one of the surgeons have said. Feel better!

I hope your head is feeling a little better. What a great question.  I am pre-op so I don't have any advise today, but this is something  I will be asking my surgeon the next time I see him.

Well, Prior to my surgery I was having extremely bad migraines so they put me on amitriptlyne. After surgery they became worse so they made the dosage higher. If I have a break through headache (which happens alot!!!) I take 2- 500mg Acetaminophen (equate version). If the headaches keep up you should certainly let the dr know. It could just be allergies though. ~*Zandra*~
