WHY?

I know that everyone says that protein is essential when you're post op but what I want to know is why? I'ver hear people say that if you don't take your protein then your weight lost will yeild or even stop. Is it true? I have been at a 2 week weight stall mostly due to me not taking my protein as i should or is it just my body becoming accustomed to my eating patterns? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I am taking my vitamins and working out as well.

Protein is essential for human beings not just WLS patients. Its even more important post-WLS because of the MWL (massive weight loss) we experience, as well as if you had any sort of bypass done you need the additional protein to make up for the lack of absorption.  There are many reasons why weight loss will yeild or stop... if you are at a 2 week stall that is normal - most of us do not lose each and every week. Just like you need a break, your body needs beaks as well.  How are out are you? How much have you lost? What is your goal? Those are things to look at. If you are struggling with protein then focus on that instead of the scale... the scale will move again as long as you are going what you need.
