need some advise... :'(
Hey y'all....I havent been around in ages....and figured it was time I stopped back in to say hi.
But I have an alterior motive for comin...I guess I need to frequent the boards more often...
I'm 9 weeks post op and my weight loss has slowed to almost non-existent. Since surgery I've lost 36 lbs, most of which was the first month. In the last 2 weeks I've lost only 2 lbs. I've been watching what I eat to make sure I'm not eating too much. When I talked to my doc, he said that I just need to make sure I'm eating no less than 800 calories a day, but he didnt tell me what a good # of calories a day is. I've been consuming around 900-1000 a day and I've kept track of what I'm eating, but I have no idea what, if anything, I'm doing wrong. Everyone I know keeps saying I look like I'm loosing, which according to the scale is just me "moving" fat around.
I've stopped exercising as much as I was, thinking maybe that was it....but I'm still not moving the scale at all. I've been working on balancing the number of calories to fat to fiber, but it's not helping. I was even thinking about going back on a atkins/south beach type diet. But not sure what I should do. I've been eating a small meal every 2.5-3 hrs...but I dunno what I should do next.
Is the amount of weight lost so far a good amt? or am I "under" loosing. Granted, I know it
took me forever to put it on, and it's gonna take a while to come off, but I'm just concerned...
Thanks for the input y'all. I hope everyone is doin well!

Thomas: You're doing everything right! Even plateuing right around the most common time - after 30 or so lbs - at 2-3 months...It happened to me and so many other people...scan the previous posts on this topic and you'll find some advice, but essentially you just gotta keep focusing on making the changes you have made in terms of lifestyle permanent ones. The weight loss will pick up again, I promise. How soon? nobody can say for sure, could pick back up tommorow or it could be three more weeks, but it will pick back up - its just not possible for your body to hold on for too much longer with the kind of calorie deficit it is up against....good luck!
You're doing fine. 900-1000 at 9 weeks out is stellar and you should be proud
because a lot of post-ops struggle to get their calories in and that slows things down. I would imagine that this is a normal stall that is part of the weight loss cycle.
One thing - you don't mention water or your fluids. Fat leaves your body through urine, so if you are dehydrated your body has a hard time flushing it out of your system. If you're not getting at least 64 ounces of clear liquids, try upping that and see if it helps.
That's all I can think of. Otherwise you really sound like you're doing well. Congrats on the weight loss so far and I'm sure it'll pick up again in a while, as frustrating as it is, be patient and look to other indicators to see progress. How do your clothes feel? What is your energy like? Are any of your co-morbities gone? Those are other, just as important, ways to judge progress.

Another thing to add, my Psych tried to explain Plateus to me in a different way. It's not a stall of weightloss, it is an "Adjustment Period". Your body has gone through sooo much, and it's just taking a little time to readjust. Don't think of it as stalling your weightloss. Think of it as preparing your body for that next big lose!
