This pain is normal I know... (x-posted)
but that doesn't keep it from hurting like hell! Since surgery on Thursday I've gotten down half an ounce of jello and maybe a teaspoon of yogurt. The dang band is just SO TIGHT. I know it is probably the swelling but it is even hard to ge****er down. My throat is fine it is just the sharp pain that I imagine "being stuck" feels like. I guess I am just looking for some insider secrets. Or am i just to tough through it?
I had to do liquids only for 6 weeks after my band, but that's my surgeon. I would recommend going to liquids if it's causing you issues.
I did 3 protein drinks a day -- 6 times a day, I would have 1/2 of one. I made them:
1 cup of milk
1/3 cup of powdered milk
1 packet of no sugar added Carnation Instant Breakfast
Then I'd have 1/2 of it (4 ounces) every 3 hours or so. Kept me satisfied and since each drink has 20 grams of protein, I was covered there.
I'd also have soup and other liquids as I wanted.
Good luck!
Jayme

This is my opinion if u arent able to get food down i dont think thats a good thing. I know after my surgery i wasnt tight at all and was able to get drink and jello down fine, i dont think u should be stuck this soon out. I think you might want to call you dr just to make sure if you there isnt anything wrong, most docs dont but in any fill during the surgery so u shouldnt be tight, i know there is some swelling thats why they want us to drink liquids and jello and nothing heavy but being tight isnt a good thing.
