5 week appt.

Today was my official "month" post op appointment, but I've been post op for 5 weeks and one day.  I have to say my days have gotten extremely better since Tuesday's incident!  Blah!

Things went really well with my surgeon and nut.  I'm supposed to be getting in a little more fluid, as it's been down.  I'm finding it hard to squeeze in as much as I need while at school teaching.  I have a dry mouth, just no time to drink!

Other than that, my surgeon really talked to me about how I need to not let the scale run my life anymore.  He asked when the last time I weighed under 275 was, and it was actually 7 years ago as a junior in high school.  He said I'm sure you've let that scale and your weight run your life and it's time to make that stop, so I'm going to be putting my scale in the closet and only bringing it out once a week to weigh.  Otherwise, he said I'm doing wonderfully and he said I'm right on track and can tell that I've been making these changes to last a lifetime (which he said I have so much more to live now).

Oh...and my lightheadedness was because my blood pressure was too low.  It wouldn't even register on their machine, so they had to do it manually, and it was low.  I've never had high blood pressure so never on meds, but just has come down so much, so that is one reason they want to stress getting enough fluids for me.  They said if I had been lightheaded, if I would have called or come in, they might have sent me to get an IV for fluids.  So, gonna try to change that.

Hope everyone is great!  Thanks for all the support!

Definitely drink more, I think that will solve all of your problems with lightheadedness.  Being dehydrated can make your blood pressure drop. I feel your troubles though, I struggle with dehydration and dizziness too.  I have nearly fainted a couple of times.  I bet you'll feel so much better if you start getting more fluids in.

Does the lightheadedness happen right when you stand up...if so, it's called orthostatic hypotension...I suffer from this sometimes...it's caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure when you get up quick and it takes a few seconds for your body to "readjust" I notice it much more when I have been not drinking enough, the other thing to try is more salt so that you will retain more water and getting up slowly...

I get that, and I'm terrible at hydration.  Thanks for letting us know that info.  I really am trying every day, I just have such random days it's hard to plan.

I wish I could say it was just when I stood.  It was really anytime I stood up, moved my head even while sitting.  I just felt like I was in a blur for two days. I will try to do the salt/drinking more.  Seemed to change when I did add more fluids in.  Anyhow, thanks for the info guys!
