ok so i had my surgery on the 18th and i had a jp drain, they removed it on saurday. i asked them if i can shower and they were like oh yea. but here comes the weird question, do i shower with the bandage on or off. i was thinking off at first to clean it and everything, but then i was thinking this is a whole in my stomach, so please if you had a drain what did your do? jennifer

im not sure what a "jp" drain is.,...but i had a drain {which might actually be a jp but i have no idea! haha}  and i was told yes i could shower....but KEEP THE BANDAGE ON. u actually dont wanna have any direc****er hitting that area till it scabs over...which i believe wus like a week or two....{i think} they dont want u getting water IN the hole...so to answer ur question....shower WITH bandage but let the water trickle around it if possible and dont let it just hit ur body....kinda awkward at first....but its only temporary remember that.

I had a JP drain and I was supposed to leave the bandage ON when showering and then was to change the bandage after getting out of the shower to a dry one.  The dryer the hole stays, the quicker it will heal.  I only remember having to keep it bandaged for like 4-5 days before it scabbed over.  I also had butterfly suture sover my incisions and were told to let them come off on their own. My belly looked really GROSS for like 3-4 weeks because of all of the stickness turning black....

Same here, I was told to leave it on and when I got out of the shower, change the bandage to a new dry one.
