Some wows...
So, I went to a support group on Tuesday and it was a fairly small group and about half of the people there were pre-ops who I had never seen before. I shared the fact that I am thinking about writing my thesis for graduate school (Marriage and Family Therapy/Art Therapy) on body image issues after bariatric surgery and they were so interested and supportive, it was great!!! I can't wait to get researching all about it! Anyway, the wow was that after my surgery one woman came up to me and told me that there was no way she could even picture me as a 26 (I shared that I had lost 110 pounds and went from a 26 to a 16) and I showed her my Driver's license picture that was taken a week before my surgery and she was like, "OMG!!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE!"....then she went on to ask if anyone has told me that I look like Jordin Sparks (the super gorgeous american idol)...I was like, hahaha, NO! She was like, you totally do!!!! Hahahaha...it made me laugh but also feel good about myself. Also, today my belt is TOO loose on the furthest hole...I guess I'll have to break out a hammer and make some more holes!!! Wahooooooooo!!! Anyway, just thought I'd share a few things that cheered up my week.
Hope you all are doing well.....YAY for it being FRIDAY tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm heading down to SoCal to visit my brother and sister-in-law at the Camp Pendelton Marine Corps base. Should be fun!! My cousin is flying in Saturday morning from Indiana and I can't wait to see her...then we are driving 7 hours to get down there and coming back Sunday because I have to work Monday....it's going to be crazy, but a fun road trip for sure!!!!!!!!!!
Any fun weekend plans for you guys?
I'm really happy for you Kim! All the way down to a 16!!!! That's so great and it has got to feel amazing. I have people who do not recognize me from my pre-op pictures and I know that is a really wonderful feeling. I hope you have fun with your road trip. I'm bumming around this weekend with lots of research to do. That is the theme of this semester for me. It involves LOTS AND LOTS of reading and taking notes, but really I love it so I can't complain. Get home safe!
