Eatin' Good in the 20's Neighborhood - Hump Day!

Good Evening 20-somethings! Had a funny experience today...I didn't have a chance to make my own coffee drink before I left the house, so I went to the Starbucks on my campus and ordered a ff sf caramel macchiato, which I have ordered 100 times before so I know how to make it.  Never had a problem.  They have great sugar free syrup and caramel macchiatos are my absolute favorite.  Well, today there was a new girl or something and she didn't put the sf syrup in...yeah...not good.  I like Starbuck's sf syrups because they  taste like the real thing to me, but about seven sips in (I drank slowly, because it was very hot) I realized it was the wrong syrup because I started to feel icky and it was tasting particularly sweet.  Grrrr.  $3 down the hole and I was a very unhappy camper.  Funny thing is, yesterday Starbucks shut down all of their stores (except the liscened ones, like on my campus) to re-train and pep up their baristas, pretty much making their new motto "We'll make you the perfect cup every time."  Not so much today.  Looks like they need to train the liscense store baristas too. Anyway,,, on with food! 7am - probably 2 oz of a ff caramel macchiato (then the rest had to get dumped or else I would have been the one who dumped...) 10 oz water 9am - 1 ka****LC honey almond flax granola bar 20 oz water 1pm - 4 oz garlic chicken and 1 spoonful of white rice (there is a Chinese place on my campus as part of the cafeteria...and a lot of times they are the best choice with veggies and meat - not so much the sauces and rice though) 20 oz water 4pm - 1 golden delicious apple, 1 oz almonds 20 oz water 7:30pm - 4 cream cheese wantons...I know...I know...bad Amy. I will do better tomorrow!  I didn't plan dinner for today and I screw up when I don't plan - hence the 4 cream cheese wantons instead of something sensible.  So tomorrow for dinner I'm planning chicken fajita salad.  A much better option than cream cheese wantons... How's it going out there?

Oh cream cheese wantons, crab rangoons, anything like that is my favorite!!! My day was not great.  I went to a pampered chef party after work and I was starving, so I nibbled at some of the things there.  Then I was starving again on the way home and it was late so I stopped at Wendy's.  Eh... B - 1/2 english muffin with red fat peanut butter L - healthy choice ham, red fat cheese, spinach and tomato on a low carb tortilla S - Genisoy soy crisps Party Nibbles - about 1 oz cheese and 2 crackers, small square of pizza, 1 glass red wine, brie w/almonds and something sweet/syrupy (bad but sooo good!) D - Wendy's 5 piece chicken nuggets w/sweet and sour sauce

Cream cheese wantons and broccoli with chicken are my weakness and unfornately the Chinese place near me sells cream cheese wantons individually for something like 62 cents and they are pretty decent sized, have a really thin crispy wanton shell and...yeah...they are tasty but all that cream cheese and deep-fried-ness is not good.  Ah well.  Brie with almonds huh?  Now THAT sounds good.

A) Hehe you said hump.... B) Funny you mention that about Starbucks because there was a whole discussion on the RNY board earlier about the same thing.  I haven't been to the bux yet but I am very concerned about what may happen when I do, for that reason. C) OMG cream cheese wontons!!!!!  YUM.  Just say you had one for me.  That one doesn't count hehe As for me: B - ~2oz eggbeaters with .5 oz shredded cheese and 2 strips bacon L - 2 oz hummus with 5 whole wheat crackers S - 1 colby/jack cheese stick Then I went to work out and things went  south.  Don't get me wrong, the workout was fine.  But afterwards I tried to eat some moist pork and I just felt ill.  I think I tried to eat too soon after working out. D - 2oz hummus and 5 whole wheat crackers - it's all that is sitting well and that doesn't make me ill. I will probably have a fudgesicle later tonight since it's not heavy.  I need some cheering up.  Despite my crappy eating I've managed to pack in 795 calories and only 43g of protein.  At least there's a lot of fiber.  As usual my liquids suck, about 34 oz right now. Miles- 25 minutes treadmill, a few exercises with resistance bands, and stretching (total 45 minutes)

lol - okay, only 3 wantons for me then . When you go, if you go, to Starbucks for the first couple of times make sure that they know you MUST have sugar free syrup for medical reasons.  The first several times I went to the Starbucks on my campus I flat out told them that if I got syrup that wasn't sugar free I would be terribly sick and this is the first time anyone has messed up my drink (and I think she was new...she was having a lot of trouble even getting the espresso to brew...). I hope eating goes easier for you today!  I have been surprised at how well you've been able to do, especially with things like pork.  I find pork to be like turkey and chicken, and that is really dry.  If the pork you had was too dry that might be the ill feeling - but then again it could be just what you said about eating too soon after a workout.   Get those liquids up!  But you already knew that.  Seriously though, you are doing very impressively as far as eating and working out for someone so soon post-op - you should be proud of yourself.

That's a good idea - to stand and watch.  The Starbucks here gets REALLY busy since it is on campus, and I was there during the morning rush, so yeah, I wasn't paying attention like I should have.  It is not a mistake I will make again, I gotta have that coffee in the morning.
