X-Post = Completed first 5K yesterday

I ran the Mardi Gras 5K yesterday, which was another first for me.  I wasn't expecting to have such a hard go of it, after a relatively rigorous training schedule (well, rigorous for me). . .  I had a tough time finding my rhythm and the first mile REALLY hurt. . . Nevertheless, I finished, and I was quite satisfied.  Now, it is time to concentrate on next month's 10K. Time = 33:53 Pace = 10:56 Overall place = 471/786

Jennifer:   The very best thing you can do for yourself is register, and better yet, register with a friend. . .  Make it an event that you can build anticipation into; this will help you tremendously with your preparation.  You can complete the walk.  Your body can complete the walk.  ~Erin

Thanks Erin, I'm going to do it! I have a team of 4 so far.  I'm worried i would be able to get enough money for them.. they want a min of $2,200 per person. I'm going to ask if Service Master whats to take part in it. (My mother is the district manager so she can ask her boss (the owner of Service Master) if he will donate a large part of it.)

Jennifer: Corporate sponsorships!  I think that is a brilliant idea. . .  I don't know if you want to become a "poster child" for WLS, but becoming a human interest story in your local newspaper can be beneficial in fund raising also.  What you have accomplished and what you will accomplish are inspiring, and folks are often willing to put money behind the athletic dedication of others. . . Be sure to post about your progress form time to time.  Be proud of yourself your registering! ~Erin

You will, Brock. . .  And you will find a new subculture of kooks and quacks that get off on pain and exhaustion.  Sign up for a run ASAP, and get out there.  You will love it, I promise. . . ~Erin

Josh:   Eh, I felt something. . .  It was a tough one for me.  The high set in about an hour later.  I'm ready to start pushing again towards the 10K now.  Are you still running? ~Erin
