Lap Band on 05/02/07 with

Unfortunately I am not able get anymore fills. I am at 10cc's in my 10cc band. My last fill was 10/31/o7 I feel like it hardly had any effect I asked my doctor at the time of the fill what happens the next time I feel like I need a fill what do I do since my band is full. He said that I would just have to rely on exercise and diet. This has made be quite disappointed because I got the lap-band surgery so I would have a life time tool and it seems that I was maxed out at just 6 months, after surgery. I try to practice good eating habits all the time which is important with or with out restriction, but I am only human and sometimes get off track. I just don't know what to do now that I feel like I could really use another fill. I know that it is all on me now to loose the remainder of this weight. Your thoughts feelings and advice are welcome :)

Well, I have no idea of my band size nor amount in the band.  I am 18+ months out and have had 3 fills, the last one 7+ months ago.  I don't really rely on the fluid in my band anymore beyond the negative reinforcement it gives when I go into some of my old bad habits.  I really do think proper eating (I HATE the d-word) and exercise is the way to go for long term weight loss and maintenance.  Good luck to you, fellow bandster, as you continue to out goal, better health!

Thanks for the encouragement. I still diet I just think it is a way of life to me. While it doesn't work for everyone it really helps me create boundaries so I don't go beyond what I am suppose to eat

Hey Hun, I think you'll be able to do it on your own.  Just try really hard to eat correctly and exercise more.  Plan out everything you can like eating and exercise, write stuff down.  Try maybe to start all over again, like after the surgery i had to do liquids for a few days then puree/mushy then normal food, so maybe if u restart you can get back into the right frame of mind.  From what you said it sounds like you really want to do this the right way, and yea we are all human and we have our bad days but you cant let those day knock you down, you be like ok i had that ice cream, tomorrow ill take the stairs instead of the elevator. You can do it!!

I had my last fill back in June and my Dr. told me he put in a little more but I still do not feel any great restriction. Now that I have moved to another state and have not been able to see a Doc for the past 5 months.I have had to rely on my own will....which has been an uphill battle.I will be making an appt with a doc soon now that I am settled to make sure I still have the level that I had before I moved,if I not,I will ask for a slight fill.I also came across this post today and it made sense http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/LapBand/a,messageboard/act ion,replies/board_id,5359/cat_id,4959/topic_id,3539674/

I think your old Dr. Doesn't know what he's talking about...the tubing of the band in and of itself holds about 2.5cc's so you only have about 7.5cc's in your band.. Once you get up to 12.5cc's then that might be a problem..but I just heard of someone having 13cc's in their band!! Go and Get a fill...and ask your New Doctor about how much the Tubing holds!! If worse comes to worse then you might have to either get a smaller band put in or get a Revision...if I had to get a Revision I would get the VSG.. they say that it's like the band but without the nonsense of getting fills and such!! Good Luck... I am also going to PM this to you since I don't know if you'll be checking it!!
