I REALLY want to do this! (I've wanted to for 2 years now!)
Has anyone done it before?
If so.... What am i in for?, should i wait until next year?(I still need to lose 65 more pounds) Any tips that may help me on the way?
Thanks!
I've never personally done it, but a few of my teachers in middle school did and if i remeber correctly they had a blast doing it. It is alot of walking though, so if you aren't sure if you are ready to something that large I would suggest doing another smaller walk for practice. I know in boston during May there are alot of different ones that just go around the Charles I've done those those are 3 miles and they kicked my ass. Some good tips that i've learned (the hard way hehe) was you need a good pair of sneakers, good socks. I wore a crappy kind one time and ended up with blisters. You need to practice walking, you need to stretch that helps. The good things is that they aren't about speed so its a nice pace. Also (I think) you carry all of your belongins with you so you should back light, and I know they feed you and that if you have dietary restrictions you tell them ahead of time and they give you special wrist bands (one of my teachers was a vegitarian), also you go to the bathroom/shower in porta pottie type things so thats just a heads up. Thats all I can think of right now. Hope it helps and I'm sure you will be able to do it!!!
