I'm very upset. Gained weight!

I've been sick the past few days...eating next to nothing...got on the scale last night and it was up like 4 pounds! How can this be? I'm so depressed about it. I've been doing so good. I've been eating so healthy too! This kind of thing makes me totally want to binge. Of course I can't  "binge" like I used to but I can still graze on crap to numb the pain. I'm so freakin depressed about this. Linsey

ok 1stly.... Step away from the scale LOL.... I am sure your body is going through the sickness and its not fair to you to weigh yourself right now... U look fabulous and continue to do the right thing as you have and give it a couple days... maybe ur retaining water??? you never know?? the body does some weird things when ur sick so i would take it with a grain of salt and try to weigh on Monday... i bet ya it would go down again!! you definetly dont need to graze.. keep your head up.. be strong and u will get passed this.. imsorry that your so upset but please think positive... good luck to you and i hope you feel better soon :)

Thank you for the encouragement! It's just so aggrevating to know that you've been so good for a long time, then you get on the scale expecting to see 4 pounds down...not 4 pounds UP!!! I guess I should chalk it up to a fluke and wait and weigh myself in a few days. Thanks for the positivity boost! Linsey

You didnt really gain weight - in order to gain a real pound of weight you would have to have seriously overeaten your calories where your body would need to store the excess. You are sick and your body is not 'normal' right now - more than likely you are just retaining fluids. Since you arnt feeling well I would wonder if you have been eating a lot of soup? Maybe crackers? An increase in salt can definately cause water retention and will show on the scale. Personally if I eat a lot of salt in a day I can go up as much as 3-5lbs.. typically it takes 3-5 days to drop back off. So... stay off the scale when sick!! :-) You didnt gain weight and this will drop back off - you said you arnt eating much so once you get back to your normal schedule it will go back down.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Thanks Jenn...I forgot about the salt. I have been eating a lot of salt. So you can fluctuate that much from salt? That makes me feel better...maybe it will drop off... Thanks! Linsey

Aww (((Hugs))). I dont have any advise but i just wanted to send a hug out your way and let you know that i understand about being depressed about the gain. i am at a stall and im so frustrated and getting depressed and i noticed i am snacking more. i feel like binging also.

Thank you for the hugs...I keep thinking I shouldn't have even weighed because it ruins the day. I just know that my lack of exercise this past week must have played a role. It's scary because you can see how fast it's possible to gain the weight back. I don't ever want to go back... We must keep from binging...( somehow). OR only allow ourselves to binge on fruits, veggies and lean protein.

no prob girl. yesterday i thought i was gonna die if i didnt have crakers. i had a popcicle insted and talked on the phone which kinda helped me from binging from the crakers. ive been getting super cravings for ritz crakers lately
