Alcohol
Sooo, I am sure this has been discussed before, but I have been unable to find a related post. Have any of you drank alcohol since your surgery? I am only 2 months out today and I asked my doctor about being able to have a few drinks at my month check up. They told me it was OK...ONLY IF it was once in a blue moon. Well I braved it this past weekend (for my birthday) and MAN O MAN, thats all I can say. I quickly found that I can not tolerate beer...I think it was the carbonation, so I switched to liquor....that did me in....I was definately a CHEAP date!! Have any of you had related experiences or did you find something that you were able to drink? I know I will not be doing it again anytime soon as I spent the ENTIRE day yesterday curing a hangover. It was VERY BAD!!! If anyone has not drank yet, I suggest not. I couldnt get my protein or liquids in yesterday.
For all those reading my suggestion is this - wait at least 6 months to start drinking, ideally 1 year. You are in the honeymoon period - its where you lose the most weight the quickest.... your liver is going thru a LOT right now processing all the fat your body is burning up... as well as all the stuff stored in the fat - add onto that the protein drinks (if you are doing them), the vitamins and the suppliements - its really not fair to your body to stress it further with drinking. Also - you may hit six months out and ask yourself 'well what if I didnt drink would I have lost more?'. Alcohol is empty calories - and there are a lot... while 1 drink isnt too horrible, 2 or 3 drinks and you have had a lot of calories/carbs/sugar depending on what you are drinking.
I am suprised when I hear of surgeons telling patients its ok to drink right after surgery - you have so much going on and should be focusing on proper eating, protein, suppliments and exercise. There is also the risk of transfer addiction as well... most people are more 'fragile' in the beginning stages so the introduction of substances that can possibly be addictive isnt the best idea IMO.
Anyways, sorry you had a hangover :-( but glad you decided to hold off from drinking for quite some time... its really in your best interest to abstain for now!

I didn’t drink before, so i don’t want to drink now. A lot of people can change/move there addiction to other things like drugs or alcohol (which scares me cuz i know i have a addictive personality) but everyone different. Almost anything’s ok in moderation.
Well,
I dont normally tolerate any carbonated beverages well AT all... but IF i have a drink which is seldom... (when i go to the clubs saturday nights) I might have one and that is diet coke and vodka... I sip on that very slow throughout the night and im fine... If i drink it too fast i get wasted fast but then feel fine an hour later.. so i sip slow and sometimes barely even finish the drink... It doesnt really do anything for me anymore so more often than not i do without!
