Newbie
Hello All....
I'm new to this board...I'm glad I found it this is a great opportunity to chat with people my age who have had wls. I am 23 years old and two week out from RNY. So far, I haven't had any complications with my surgery (which is a blessing) but I am still having a difficult time. From the responses from other people I'm assuming the problems I'm having are normal. I think this is just me trying to adjust to my new lifestyle. i.e. sipping, only eating baby food, you know the usual
. But hopefully I get through this stage very soon. How long until I can actually drink a small glass of water??
Ugh...I'm just so frustrated, I'm trying to get as much protein as I can in but I physically can't stomach the protein drinks. So I have just been eating what I can, and I know I'm not getting in at least half of the protein suggested. I'm just a mess. I made a promise to myself that tomorrow I am going to try get in as much protein as possible. Lets pray that goes well.
I'm just venting for the day...Anyway... Thanks for listening!

(((hugs))) You're my surgery buddy! I know exactly what you mean. I had been feeding myself thru a tube or the first two weeks and today was my first day trying to get it all in by mouth. I have failed miserably LOL. I know this because I have had NO energy today. I have had *maybe* 150 calories total today. I'm trying but I just feel so full.
I hope it gets easier for you!
Hey Ladies,
I feel you both! I having been so tired the last few days and couldn't figure out why, then I realized it was Friday I stopped drinking the protein shakes (because I couldn't stomach them) and moved on to cottage cheese and the likes - but I'm not getting as much in as I should
I've made a promise for myself that tomorrow is going to better that I will be eating my 3x a day and getting my protein shakes in 2x a day!!!

Hey!
protein shakes gag me too...I had to do the trial and error thing quite a bit...I found that the Isopure ready to drink protein juices were a lifesaver....they're zero carb, 180 calories and 40g of protein in a 20 oz bottle of CLEAR juice...they come in flavors like grape, alpine punch, apple melon, pineapple orange banana, orange and raspberry.....they go down thin like water...you can buy them at GNC.
It might help a bit...stay the course...keep sipping...don't let your water bottle out of your sight, and be sure to try changing the water temp too...i find it's a lot easier to get room temp and warm liquids down than cold drinks...
stay within your surgeon's guidelines, but switch things up a little when you can...use icky baby food to thicken soups...puree the he** out of denser mushier foods and mix with soup...mix your fav crystal light flavors into ice cubes for popcicles or to add something new to boring drinks...
don't let it get you down...every day gets a little better...
good luck!
xxxbecca
