As far as I know there are no individual plans available that cover the insurance. From what I have heard starbucks gives employees that work 20 hours or more insurance and it covers WLS - so thats worth looking into. As for setting up a payment plan - you would have to finance the surgery thru a company that does medical loans - capital one is one... however the interest rate is usually 23% or higher and since its unsecured debt its harder to get, especially in a large amount, unless you have a good credit score/credit history. You may also want to post to your states board to see if people can tell you of any state programs that may help if you qualify for them - like medicaid bor vocational rehab.

Hi Heather, I asked this SAME question a couple weeks back. And i got my answer so here it is: I'm getting financed through MedChoice (gave me 5,500, though you will get more if you have a co-signer and good credit) I am getting 6,000 from my mom saving up for a little extra  AND having surgery in michigan with Dr. Pleatman becuase he is the cheapest in the US for a gastric bypass.  Of course check out the insurance you get from work and see if they cover it.
