6 weeks out... 2 weeks no loss

I am 6 weeks out and haven't lost anything in 2 weeks. I know I'm not going to lose every week but this is really starting to worry me. I have been having major constipation issues which I thought were the cause of it but I don't know. I'm going to my doctor today but I'm feeling very discouraged. I haven't cheated (mostly out of fear lol) at all. I'm eating 66 grams of protein a day and am trying to increase that. I eat about 1/4 cup when I eat  each meal- all vegetarian protein sources (veggie burger, soy crumbles, edamame, light life deli slices, etc) about 4 times a day. I'm working on increasing my liquids as I'd say I'm getting 50-60 oz per day. It's just hard to get more than that down right now... I'm struggling to get 50-60.  I'm starting to increase my excercise now and once the surgeon gives me the ok today, I'm going to start full on workouts.  What could I be doing wrong? Did anyone else have this happen so early out? :(

What you are experiencing is very normal... many people experience stalls at different points in the journey - even very early out. My first suggestion is to check your inches - I see by your ticker you are down 50+lbs... how many inches have you lost? Many times when the scale stopped I would see the inches melting off.  Also look at the weight loss journey as a WHOLE, not just as a number on the scale - how do you FEEL? Are you off any meds? Any medical conditions improve/disappear? How do you look - see any changes? Is performing certain tasks easier, like walking up a flight of stairs? Clothes getting too big?   Basically there is so much more to this than just what the scale says!

I do feel great actually. I've never slept so soundly... I wake up happy to be awake. My energy level is through the roof. Pre op I didn't even feel like getting off the couch when I got home. Now, I've been out every night, being active, skating, doing things with friends, etc. I've even gotten hit on a few times this week because my friends are telling me that my mojo is back. I've been doing this perpetual make over... chopped my hair off, got new cool glasses, doing girly things like my eyebrows and pedis and stuff I feel like a new person! I have lost inches... I went down a pant size already. I skate sooo much faster now. You're totally and completely right. I think I just have this whole "honeymoon period" thing looming over my head... that every week I don't lose will make it that much harder to get to goal in the end. Then I just get into this mental nonsense panic that "this is it... I'm not going to lose anymore and I did all of this for nothing" (which is TOTALLY irrational I know).  You're totally right... I have to keep those things at the forefront of my mind. Maybe I should have someone hide my scale or something for a while lol

Thats a lot of stuff to be happy for :-) great job! Overall there is a large weight loss window... while the honeymoon period is *typically* the first 6 months... the overall window is 18 months. You can still keep losing after that bu*****pically takes more work - you are never 'cutoff' from losing weight if you dont want to be! I definately noticed a slow down after the first 6 months... but I was thankful for that - I really started to see how my behavior effected the scale and I really had to work at my nutrition and eating habits in order to stay successful!

Relax.  Really, you're doing great with protien and getting exercise as you are able and you're working on the liquids - that is just what you are supposed to be doing.  Your body just needs time.  It is a big adjustment and stalls are a normal part of that.  Keep doing what you're doing and the loss will pick up again. The constipation might be a reason the loss isn't showing up.  You should call your doctor about that.  Ask about Miralax (I use it everyday and I love it).  As you are able to get more liquids and tolerate more fiber the constipation thing will get better.  But in the meantime, I'm sure your doc could recomend something to alieviate the symptoms for now.

Just keep exercising, drinking water, and it'll happen. Relax!
