Now that im 7 months into my journey it got me thinking why people choose lap band over RNY.  I geuss Ive just head a lot of stories about lap band and Ive been watching a lot of Big Medicine where people have had it and got revisions.  When they are removing the band for revision there is all the scar tissue and what not.  So I just thought I would ask how people decided it was their best decision??

Im bad about taking pills and keeping DR apps. so The needing B12 shots and taking vs everyday and the anual blood worrk made me cringe.  Plus If I want to have a baby I just suck the fill out of my band.  Everyone has their own needs .  Hope the RYN is working well for you.

I just want to clarify that the band that was removed on Big Medicine was not the lap band.  It was a band yes, that has no give like the lap band.  It did not last long, i think only in trials. I have only met very few people with problems with the band...  Ive met way more ppl with RNY problems.

Oh Lord...If I see one more Band vs. RNY thread...

Not to be mean but this topic is such a dead horse it's pathetic. Trust me, there are a lot of pros and cons for each type of surgery. The point is that both have a high success rate and both have possibilities of problems.

well i almost had the lap band done, and it was freaking my mom out because of one guy at her work that was having alot of complications and issues with his insurance not accepting the surgery for the band removal. but my main reason for doing it, is because im a HUGE sugar eater, and i know with the lap band i would more subjected to eating what i like , i learn my lesson REAL fast what sugar does to me if i have too much, and im glad! :) but dont get me wrong i can still eat stuff with sugar just in LOW moderation. Im happy i did RNY, and too be honest i dont take vitamins or b12 stuff, I eat enough times in a day that i get the right nutriention, even tho i feel like a piggy because i eat 5 to 8 small meals a day.. I know with the lap band for SOME its a slower weightloss process, I know its taken a friend of mine almost a year to lose 60 lbs, when it took me 4 months to lose 60 lbs, and and 6 months to lose 100 lbs and its slowed down since then, i havent lost anymore weight but then again i havent been excerising like i should be..  But which ever surgery anyone goes with, will depend on there own situation and how much they need to lose.. I still believe for super obese people, RNY is the way to go.., for people that have less then 70lbs to lose  in MY oppinion lap band is the way to go.. Everyone's story is different with there own complications and successes.. So its hard to judge whats best for you off of someone elses personal issues or thoughts. As for having babies, with having either surgery, both have successful rates of people having a baby post-op, I'll probably wait tho after 4 yrs before i consider having a kid first tho.. ONLY because i want a kid when im 30, Id like to enjoy my 20's kid free
