Welcome to the 20's board! I had surgery just less than 11 months after I started the process. I had some trouble scheduling all the appointments or it would have been sooner. But as soon as I had everything submitted to my surgeon and my insurance company it took less than 2 months until my surgery (and that was mostly due to MY schedule, or it could have been sooner). I hope your wait isn't long! I was (still am) a full time college student when I had my surgery, I was ready to get back to class in just a couple weeks, but being a student doesn't require a lot of physical activity other than walking around. Talk to your surgeon about what he/she would recomend depending on what you do at your job. It is a big change after surgery, so I think you need some time just to get used to things and let your body adapt. I wish you the best!

Welcome to the board.... My journey started in october 2006 went I went to the seminar at Duke WLS. My first appointment was scheduled tne next week for the middle of december. During that time I had all my tests done. I failed my pulmonary function test so they referred me to a pulmonologist for evaluation and clearance. In January I saw him and he cleared me but suggested I probably had sleep apnea. So, the following week I was sent for a sleep study. The result was positive and I was given a cpap and cleared for surgery. The next step was insurance submital which happened around the beginning of last february. Three weeks later I was approved and I was given the date of March 29th.....I had my laproscopic RNY that day stayed in the hospital for three nights and was ready to go about a week or so after that. How long depends though on what you do, your particular surgery. how your body reactsto the anastesia (the results of which linger in your body for up to a month) and of course any complications...
