Keep your head up!

I had the urge to write a blog Friday night and sat down to write. About 15 minutes into typing my little heart out...poof! It all disappeared. I was so annoyed that I said forget it. Then last night I decided to give it another shot and I spent well over an hour typing a beautiful, heartfelt blog about staying positive in hard times. Wouldn't you know, that as I hit POST, it too disappeared. What the hell!?!? Now I am just fuming. The devil obviously doesn't want me to share my thoughts with the world (my loyal readers that is) but I have just passed frustration and am now oober annoyed and determined. This is getting published no matter what! I am going to retype this thing to the best of my memory for the third, and hopefully final time! But I am getting wiser about it. I am going to type it on Word, and save as I go, then copy and paste. Here goes..... So life has not been the kindest to me lately. I hit some rough patches last week and was quick to jump on the "life sucks" bandwagon. But then reality, AKA - my Mother hit me with the tough love rationale by telling me to stop being such a drama queen. She said people have it a lot worse than me....and she is right. So what if my pipes keep freezing, my kitchen sink is leaking, my weightloss is at a super standstill, and my gi-mormous credit card bill is crazy out of control. Those things can be fixed and settled all in good time. I will be fine…I am fine! There are so many worse problems to have in life. So after praying, reading my Joyce Meyer book (Woman to Woman), and going to bible study last week, I got a ton of insight and encouragement, and really felt the need to share what I have discovered. Sorry if it bores you, but I love my quotes!

*Our happiness comes from helping rather than hoarding. LUKE 12:33

So true! I love to help others, and it makes be feel better about myself more than anything else in the world to be able to put a smile on someone else's face.

*The less you have, the less you have to worry about.

*He who dies with the most toys still dies.

None of the junk that we buy is eternal…you cannot take it with you. I had a creepy example of this over the weekend when an Aunt was showing me old rings that a soldier had gone around taking off of dead soldiers during the WW2. Creepy! I dropped those rings real quick. Sorry that was a side tangent! I am a bit scatterbrained (especially being the 3rd time I have typed this)!

*Be generous. Give to the poor. Get yourselves a bank that can't go bankrupt, a bank in heaven far from bank robbers, safe from embezzlers, a bank you can bank on. It's obvious isn't it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being. LUKE 12:33

*Our job is to simply trust God with what is going on in our lives, having faith that he will let us know what is best for us.

*In the world you have tribulations and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer…for I have overcome the world. JOHN 16:33

GREAT story from Joyce Meyer's book:

* One day a farmer's donkey fell into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do about it. Finally, the farmer decided that the animal was too old to justify the efforts it would take to get him out of the well. So he asked his neighbors to help him shovel dirt into the well and end the donkey's life. As the dirt began falling on the donkey's back, he realized what was happening and cried horribly. (Does that sound like anybody you know-"I just feel like everything is caving in on top of me"?) But then, to everyone's amazement, the donkey quieted down. After shoveling a little more dirt, the farmer looked down into the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovelful of dirt that hit the donkey's back, the donkey was doing something amazing - he was shaking it off and stepping up! Eventually everyone stood back in amazement as the donkey stepped over the edge of the well and trotted off.

That's a wonderful lesson about how you can be a woman who wins, even in seemingly hopeless situations. Don't waste your time whining, crying, or throwing a fit. Instead, calm down and think about the peace and the power of God that is yours…then put it to work for you. Don't get buried by all the problems that life shovels on you – just stay calm, and keep shaking them off and stepping up – and before long you will step out of your problems and walk right into the victory that God had planned for you all along!

That is so true. I tend to worry so much and drive myself crazy...not to mention my family and friends, but things always work out eventually.

Ok, I think I am over my tangent on this topic for now!

I had also been having a rough time for the past week or so....a lot of stuff on my plate, some worth being upset over, and some not....I realized though that the attitude I have can change everything.  I found this quote and think it's sooo true.... "The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts; it is more important than the past, than education, than money, than cir****tances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change the past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have and that is our attitude...I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it, and, so it is with you...we are in charge of our ATTITUDES." -Charles Swindoll When I changed my attitude and stopped feeling sorry for myself and went on living my life things have gotten much better!!!!  I just need to remember that I am in charge of my attitude!!!!

Wow what a wonderful and moving post. I totally agree with you. On my myspace page i have a similar rant...no matter how bad I think my life is I need to remember my endless blessings. I live in AMERICA for crying out loud! I am free, I have a car, I have access to healthcare, I don't live in fear of where my next meal will come from, I have access to birth control, great family, career, house...the list goes on and on. My worst day would be some people's best. I watched a show where a reporter lived in Africa and tried to work and support himself like the other town's people. He had to do hard labor for 8 hours for enough money to buy a small dirty bowl of rice! This was how they all lived. Never any food, water, healthcare. The saddest part was the babies starving crying in the village kept him up all night. They showed the mothers nursing but there was no milk at all due to malnutrition. Those images have stuck with me ALWAYS..and remembering those things gives me the strength to face ANYTHING! I never ask for anything when I pray...I feel too blessed! It's always a huge THANK YOU GOD!!! Great post!
