Need Liquids Recommendations...
Ok y'all, I need some recommendations for the full liquid to get protien in. I'm doing 2 protien shakes a day, but Im still coming up short, and running out of ideas. Also, need some recommendations for what to eat...lol...jello, pudding, grits, tomato soup is gettin kinda old. I mean, I'll still eat them, but I need some variety. Any recommendations?

I'm not post-op, but homemade chicken broth is a favorite of mine even now. Its easy and it packs quite a protein punch. According to what I read online, 1 cup has over 20 grams of protein (obviously this can vary depending on how much chicken you put in the pot and how long your boil it).
Put a cut up chicken in a pot - skin, bones, and all (you can use thigh, leg, and breast pieces if you have some in the freezer just be sure they have bones). Add a whole onion, a couple whole stalks of celery, a couple whole carrots, 2 bay leaves, about 10-15 whole peppercorns and then cover everything with water. Bring it to a boil and then turn it on low and coo****il the chicken falls apart (the longer the better, I usually do it for about 4 hours). Strain out everything. Save the meat for use later. Toss the boiled veggies. Done. It sounds harder than it is. When you refrigerate it, it should be like jello.
I know that this is something I intend to make batches of before I have surgery so that I have some on hand.
It will get easier I promise...I remember right after surgery having the same problem - at 2 ounces at a time once an hour it took something like 3.5 protein drinks to get enough in...but I found something to help with it - these vials of liquid protein - they don't taste great but they've got something like 40 grams in one four or five ounce vial - find em online or at the vitamin shoppe or gnc...some people dilute them to help improve the taste, but I just drank them like I was "taking my medicine"

You should be able to have cottage cheese if you puree it (or chew reeeeeal well). That's some good protein. Do you like the cream-based soups like cream of mushroom/chicken? You can have those if you puree them too. Thinned out cream of wheat. S/F yogurt without fruit pieces (or with them blended really well). Carnation Instant Breakfast. You can add protein powder to your pudding (if the flavors mesh lol). You can also get dry milk and add it to stuff for more protein (and if you're not lactose intolerant of course).
That's pretty much my shopping list for next week! I also highly reccommend the DaVinci flavored syrups to switch it up or add some variety. Check Walmart, Sams, Costco, TJ Maxx, Ross, Marshals, or www.davincigourmet.com. They have lots of s/f varieties.
My liquid diet was very limited so there really wasnt much variety. IMO 2 protein shakes isnt enough - I was to drink SIX Carnation NSA shakes a day made with FF milk/lactaid/light soy milk. I guess it depends on the protein shakes you are drinking but I would check the calories to make sure you are getting in enough. If you are allowed yogurt check out that Fage (greek yogurt) its high in protein and would be a good way to boost yours up, if not regular yogurt would be fine too.
I was only allowed SF jello, SF pudding, SF ice pops, Light yogurt, SF/Caffeine free liquids (crystal lite), clear broth and 1 1/2cu of gatoriad allowed a day. That was pretty much it.

If you are still on your post-op liquid diet, PROPEL is good. But you might want to steer clear of it going forward once you graduate to mushies. I'd steer clear of the GATORADEs and POWERADEs even now, though.
But, that's MY OPINION. Not a universal truth!
