Hi guys I am new here just wanted to finally write something instead of lurking around....but i have learned a lot from this website...i just wanted to meet some people my age that has had this done or is going to.  I am going to be considered for wls i have to attend a class first on the 27th of february then after that i have my consult so i have a little while till everything starts happening...my husband and I are stationed in jacksonville, nc (he is a marine) so i dont live near my family which is in texas.  My family supports me but my friends here dont understand why i want to do this...but then again they are a size1 and a size 9 so i dont want to hear it....i just hope i can get support and advice from people that are going through the same thing as i am.  Thanks Amanda

Hey Amanda! Welcome aboard.. I'm also going through the whole process of being considered for WLS and the only thing I have left to do is meet with the surgeon..(GULP) haha But there's alot of great ppl here that are very supportive and I know how you feel about friends not being supportive.. I've had ppl be like, "why can't you just exersize?" If they've never been where we've been it's hard for them to understand.  That's why I love this website b/c I was surprised at the things I thought "omg this only happens to me" .. actually happens to alot more people then just me.. lol So if you have any questions feel free to ask :) g0odluck w/ur journey..

HI amannda,  well welcome out of lurking lol. anywasy i was just wonder is you class/seminar at a mtf or a civi hosptial. another thing i would do is get a list of physchs in the tricare website and call and see who does biraratric clearences, and just set it up for the beginning of march. this will ahve you ahead because it can take many months to get in with those dr becuase we can only get into certain providers. also i dont know if you know this or not, but mental health is self refferal, meaning you dont hav to ask your pcm to refferal you. if your pap smear is more than 6 months old, go ahead and get that out of the way too. that way when the seminar date comes the list of thing you have to do will be cut down because your already scheduled.  where in tx is your family from? we are stationed at NAS kingsville in south texas (near corpus christi). if you have any other question give me a pm and i'll help you out. and congrats on your first step of the journey. Jennifer
