Ah tuna.  It is dense, so that would explain the heavy feeling.  I still have some issues with tuna.  If you try it again make sure you chew it really, really well and that might help it go down better. My favorite soft food was cottage cheese with a couple saltine crackers.  I don't know why, but for some reason it was a huge treat (the reason probably had something to do with the fact that I was eating chew-able food for the first time in 4 weeks...).   Another popular soft food is refried beans with some melted cheese on top.  Personally I'm not a bg bean fan, but I guess some folks really like this. Something else I liked was chili.  I lived on cottage cheese and chili during my soft food stages.  I would put some shredded cheddar cheese on the chili and chew really well (after I painstakingly picked out all of the kidney beans...).  It was flavorful and yummy, but just make sure it is on your surgeon's list of approved soft food.   Hope this helps give you some ideas.  Congrats on the 35 pound loss!  That is awesome!

Take about 1-2 Tb of refried beans (Old El Paso works best) and grate a little cheddar cheese on top. Heat in microwave. Add a dollop of LF sour cream.

1 can of drained shrimp and beat with mixer.

1/2 scoop protein powder

This gives you 38g of protein!

Lemon Pie

2 boxes s/f vanilla pudding mix

1 tub Crystal Light Lemonade

16 oz f/f Cool Whip

1 1/2 cup skim milk

Mix all ingredients and chill

Cauli-Taters or “Mock Mashed Potatos”

cook your cauliflower to a very soft mushy texture, drain very well and add butter, salt and pepper.  mx or blend. (Blended is better)  Optional: add cheese, garlic, sour cream, FF cream Variation: add 1-2 Tb LF sour cream, put in casserole dish, sprinkle liberally with parmesan cheese and bake at 400 for 20 min.

Pureed frozen fruit (sorbet/sherbert)

Puree your favorite fruits in blender/food processor. Add sweetener to taste. Or add low carb/diet juice Pour mix into a container that is about 1/4 larger than you need. Toss it in the freezer. About once an hour go and stir it. Stir more frequently for small amounts (For 1 pint container, mix every 30-60min). Flavors:

*Banana, strawberries and OJ

*Unsweetened Coconut, crushed pineapple, banana.

*Cantaloupe and raspberries with a splash of juice.

*Strawberries, kiwi and applesauce.

Mock Cheese Danish

2 oz. fat free Philly cream cheese, stirred smooth

1 egg, beaten into the cream cheese

3 packets of Splenda

dash of vanilla

dash of cinnamon

Mix all ingredients smooth in a custard cup. Put in microwave on high for 90 seconds. It will come out with a little moistness from the cream cheese. This is called a mock cheese Danish but it is more like a custard/ cheesecake type thing.

Home made Pate

Put any kind of allowed meat in a blender and blend with cottage cheese or another soft cheese or sour cream or just a little liquid.

Be sure you make sure your meat has good flavor- marinate it, stew it, braise it in sauce, etc. before you blend it, but shake off the excess flavoring agent.

Use chicken, turkey, shrimp, crab, lobster, tuna, etc. Use spices and herbs to make it taste good. Don't make a whole bunch at once, but go for the variety. Try salmon with a little liquid smoke flavor, mesquite tuna, shrimp and ham.

Hmm, canned tuna isn't too bad, I don't think.  You just have to make sure that you add something creamy to it, like mayo or miracle whip. I personally thought when I chewed tuna TOO much, it sort of got dense and balled up. I do know that some brands of tuna have bigger chunks though, and those would obviously need to be chewed more.  The kind I ate had no chunks whatsoever, but I don't know what brand it was.  Probably just cheapie starkist though. I also liked scrambled eggs, but I made sure that I didn't cook the crap out of them.  They needed to be a tiny bit wet, but still fully cooked.  I took teeny tiny bites and mushed them up against the roof of my mouth with my tongue. I also bought little carb and sugar control yogurt cups (I think they were light n fit carb/sugar control and came in packs of 4).  Unsweetened applesauce was nice too.  I ate a bit of refried beans and cheese, but I thought they sat heavy. I have no imagination, so I thought the pureed/soft food stage was really boring.  I wish I stayed at Rianne's house while I was at that stage!

hey y'all....i know it's not part of the soft food category (i'm a lil under a week out)...so i'm still on full liquids, but luckily full liquids also includes grits!!!

I'm a good ole southern boy, so me and my grits get along real well.  You may want to try them if you like em or even if u never tried them before, they are the best in the world!  1 pre-made pack flavored from the store will get ya 2 meals on average....but i typically buy the container that u measure urself and cook on the stove.  And it has some protien in it....1-2 grams....lol i said some, not a lot.  :)
