Lactose Tolerance
This thought came into my head as I was driving to work this morning...I know I know...it's scary that I was thinking and driving at the same time...being a blonde and what not...
Anyways, I know alot of people become lactose intolerant after surgery and I was wondering, to those who have had the surgery, did you begin drinking milk immediately after or did you wait a while? The reason I ask is because I mainly drink my protein shakes in the morning with fat free milk as it is a bit more creamier than making it with water.

I was fine with milk immediately after surgery :-) I personally made my protein shakes with light soy milk because it comes in flavors so I could 'mix up' my protein shakes and still use the same powder.

I drank skim milk right when I got home from surgery. No problems for me at all. When your surgeon says it is okay to add skim milk, start slowly and maybe just drink the milk plain (without protien powder mix) and see how you feel. If you get a really bad gut ache or nausea, then wait a while before trying it again. It is trial and error for a while, so it may take a couple tries to figure out what will work and what won't. Good luck!

I drank milk soon after surgery and it went down fine.
Nowadays, I'll occasionally have milk and I'm still fine with it, but I prefer to drink the lactose free milk from HEB. I think it's called mootopia. It's like twice as expensive, but there is no lactose so it drags the sugar/carb values way down, which is very important to me.
Edited to add: you can also just try adding a lactase enzyme med like lactaid before you drink milk...:)
