I just wanted to say hi to everyone as im new to this forum. Im in australia and im 21 in april. Im abit obsessed with OH (its like myspace and facebook all over again

) Im having my lap band surgery on the 29th jan so im sure ill have many questions for all of you!!

2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Hi welcome to our Forum, always growing with shrinking members! Congratulations on your new addiction! Question for you: In Australia, do WLS patients typically pay for their procedures with medical insurance, on their own, or does the government provide medical care?

Hi michael,
now you have to fund it yourself or if u have private health insurance then they take about half the bill. Unfortunatly i do not have health insurance and if i get it now then i have to wait 12mths (i dont wana have to wait). There is talk about the government paying for lap bands in the future but its not happening yet

I'm glad you found us! I've got a facebok addiction myself and I think OH is just as fun if not more so. There are always lots of folks around who are ready and willing to answer questions, so I hope we're able to help as much as you need.
