New to 20's board

Hello -     I have known about the 20's board for a while, but for whatever reason have never come over here. I mainly lurk on the DS board. I am 23 and in the process of seeking DS approval through my insurance. I have been overweight my entire life, although not to the extent that I am now. I am also a full-time student and the mother of an amazing three-year-old who keeps me on my toes, daily.   Is there anyone else here, besides the wonderful Nicole K., who has had the DS? I would love to read your story, if there is.  Oh, and thank you to She She for posting on the DS board!

Hey Starr!  I haven't had surgery yet but am also considering the DS.  I try to hit a few different boards but mostly lurk.  (DS, lightweights, Lapband and now 20 somethings)  I am 27 and have a 5 year old son and my daughter will be a year old on the 23rd (WOW...where did the year go???)  I stay home with my kiddos while hubby works and goes to school full time.  I also babysit another 5 year old boy, two year old girl and will be getting a 6 week old baby on the 21st.  Keeps me jumping but I have fun.

As a parent of a 4 year old and a 2 year old, all I have to say is God bless you! 4 preschool age kids, and soon a newborn? Wow! Hey, good news is after the weight loss it will get somewhat easier to keep up!

I think I have seen some things you have posted. Our stories seem similar. I also stay at home with my 3 year old and watch another little boy the same age while my fiancée goes to work. (Thank God for night school.) For this month only, I have been watching my son and the normal boy I sit, plus my friends 4yo and 3mo! I cannot believe I even have time to type this...so I can only imagine what you will be going through! I never checked out Lap Band because my body rejects foreign objects easily, so that was never an option in my mind. I did seriously consider RnY before finding DS, but the possible intolerance of meat really made me cautious. I am terribly carnivorous and cannot imagine not being able to eat chicken, fish, beef, or lamb. Moreover, I thought I would probably be able to out eat the RnY, thus DS being a better choice for me personally.
