Its rough... there really are no suggestions or anything to break it up because the liquid diet is so limited... basically just 'keep your eye on the prize'.  Remind yourself why you are doing the liquids - what brought you to the decision to have surgery? how will your life improve from surgery? what are you looking forward to doing post-op that you wouldnt/couldnt do pre-op?? It is two weeks of torture... but in the long run its *only* two weeks to the beginning of your new life!

2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5

Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Liquid pre-op is so hard, but it will soon be a distant memory! As far as your dad's party - whatever you do STAY OUT OF THE KITCHEN! Just don't be around the food, and if people bug you about it just tell them your feeling kind of queasy and don't want to aggravate the situation. Good luck lady, you can do it!

what my doctors told me is that i can do liquids like 90% and then eat a lil food. like mostly veggies and chicken. they wanted me to do a shake for breakfast and for lunch and like a lean cuisene or chicken and a lil starch for dinner.  but they said if i got hungry duing the day i could eat veggies. so if u think it'll be ok just eat a few veggies. Don't worry it'll be over soon and your life will get back on track. Mine is on the 14th so i know what you are going through now.

I almost think the LD phase was the worst.  It does get better though. One thing I did to distract myself was chew SF gum.  I chewed so much gum during my 2 week preop diet, but it really did help. While everyone is eating at the suprise party DRINK!  will there be soup?  I know lame right?  but then people wont suspect anything.  You can just say that your not that hungry.

when i missed chewing stuff i ate sugar free popsicles or a snow cone made with crystal light that really helped me a lot on the LD

To break it up try different temps of liquids - make ice cubes with 100% juices or drink warm decaff teas.  If you are able to do full liquids, try milk.  When I did my liquid diet pre-op I was allowed skim milk and for some reason skim milk satisfied my hunger better than anything else.  This is a tough thing to do, but it is so worth it!  I wish you the best on your pre-op diet so you can get on to bigger and better things!

Same boat, same date except i only have to do 2 dys pre op LD thank goodness.  Have you tried the sugar free popsicles?  Those are really good and it's like you are eating, but just ice.

It's good to see all the great suggestions from the regulars on this board....I'll go ahead and throw one in too: Try pudding or better yet, mix up a protein shake with sf ff pudding powder in it...I just made one last night with sf chocolate syrup and sf ff cheesecake flavored pudding - yum yum yum, delicioso! Good luck on your surgery, and enjoy the ride!
