Ok, I know I must sound like a broken record for those of you who have read some of my other posts, but I am so afraid of vomiting. It is ridiculous, but it is real. So I am curious if there are people who do not have a problem with vomiting/nausea post op? I know we are all different, but is it controllable? I have already been trying to tell myself that I WILL BE OK if it happens, just in case it does.  Any input on this topic is appreciated. I will see the surgeon tomorrow and then I will be on my way to surgery soon after that...I just want to get all the info on this that I possible can... Thank you guys!!

I'm four months out and have yet to vomit...i wish i had once when i got bad foamies (didn't chew enough)....but i've also not strayed from my surgeon's orders (I'm a chicken sh*t like that) i went into this expecting the worst...dumping, vomiting, unable to get enough calories, stalls, nausea.... I've had a picture perfect journey so far....no illness, and for my weight range (I'm considered a lightweight) I've actually been losing faster than expected...at first i thought something was wrong with my tool because it didn't give me any problems...then, as my nut explained it, I'm not giving my pouch a reason to be pissy...so i dont stray and in turn, pouch and i have an agreement to not give eachother any problems...I consider it a blessing! xxxbecca

Thank you so much!! Becca, I like what you are saying here. I think I would rather want to throw up than actually do it. I plan to stay the course, I dont want to chance anything. I hope that I have a similar story to yours in a few months:)  I plan to do whatever I can not to get sick. Thats just me though, I would do anything not to!!   I am so anxious to see the surgeon tomorrow too. I have never in my life been so glad to see a doctor!! I am hoping that it goes really well and I can have surgery soon! That would be great:) We shall see!!

lol...adjusting to HOW you need to eat is a trial and error ...I usually err on the side of caution...over-chew every bite, measure every serving at every meal, etc.  but there are a few times, when something just doesn't agree, and it takes time to get the discomfort and pressure to pass, where you just wish 'if i could only just throw this up and start over"...lol...it's rare if you're careful, but it sure sets you back onto the straight and narrow again real quick! I don't mean for this to sound scary or awful, it's just a realistic part of the process, and if i had it all to do over again, pain, foamies and everything...I WOULD DO IT A HUNDRED TIMES!!  Feeling THIS good every day is worth the few moments of discomfort that led to it...you will do great on your journey...you know what to expect, you are studying and asking questions....and that's the best preparation you can do....good luck to you!  this really is an amazing and exciting ride!!! xxxBecca

I'm 8.5 months out, and can't remember the last time I vomitted. Early on a vomited a few times...it takes a few months for everything in there to heal, but after you get past that tenuos period of figuring out what you can tolerate and what you can't...you'll be fine....for me after four months or so, I was able to tolerate anything I want, except sugar....puking with the pouch is a different experience though. it will feel like you have air stuck in there and it will take a series of serious belches to get that little bit out...just wierd!

I did not vomit until my surgeon moved me up to solid food.  Ick, I totally hate vomiting, but now it's an every other day thing.  When you screw up and don't chew enough or eat something that does not agree with you (I have found that me and poultry are NOT friends right now) you will beg to throw up and not mind so much.  It feels so much better afterwards.

I had my surgery april 04 and havent thrown up since then, I dont think i can anymore, and I've gotten really sick and wished I could no matter if its from food i have eaten or if I have the flu. I have eaten food that has never made me sick then all of a sudden it does make me sick.

I did not vomit much at all in the beginning - I can remember the first time I did though... it just took one extra bite of food to make me go to the bathroom. It didnt happen to me until I got on "real" solid food..... not often though... Maybe 1 or 2 times a month - it was totally my fault - I would forget to chew or forget how fast I was eating if I was in a hurry. I still do it once in a great while now being 2+ years post-op.... once again... my fault for not chewing or eating too fast.
