Worried about not losing weight

Help guys- I am three weeks out after RNY and so far I've lost about 20lbs. Although I am proud of that, I am worried that I am not losing anymore. I havent lost any weight for about a week.

I am still on a full liquid pureed diet (which is starting to suck btw), I am trying to get enough protein and taking all my vitamins too. Although its wicked cold out- I try to walk almost everyday- although most of the time it's shopping somewhere.

Am I doing something wrong?? Or is it normal to slow way down at this point for a while??

Let me know what you think. I'm kind of a worry wart!

Stop stressin :)  Your body has gone through sooo much and its just stepping back taking a look at what its accomplished.  I had a little stall after three weeks myself.  Make sure you take your measurements... that will show you that you're still losing/changing.

Good luck, sweetie!

The more things the change, the more they're still the same.

It is normal to go through stalls.  Like Jaci said, your body is recovering from major surgery.  Give it time.  Your body also might be in "starvation mode" because of the extreme calorie shortage you have when only doing liquids and pureed foods.  Make sure you are eating enough (I know, it is crazy to think that we'd ever have to worry about eating too little to lose weight).  Keep following your surgeon's guidelines and the weight will come off.  Oh, and if you haven't yet you should get a tape measure and take your measurements.  When the scale slows down or stops you can guage your progress in inches lost.  Congratulations on the 20 pound loss!  You are doing just fine.

I am almost 1.5 years out and here is what I learned You will not lose every day You will not lose every week Sometimes a few weeks will pass and you wont lose A lot of times when the scale doesnt move - the tape measure will, so check your inches It took time to put the weight on, it takes time to get the weight off

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)
