ok so i noticed a lot of people saying their hair was falling out after surgery, which i know is normal and varies from person to person. but my question is i am pre-op still and my hair falls out like crazy, it always has. i mean i have to clean the drain every time i shower or else it clogs. my brush is so full that i have to clean it out to finish brushing my hair. oh and by the way my hair is still long. did any of you guys have a similar experience pre-op and did you notice the difference post-op. i am getting a little nervous that if my hair falls out more then it already does i will be bald in no time. thanks

Hi Jennifer! I'm actually eating better post-op than any other time in my life...I get at least 95g of protein a day and my hair is getting THICKER!!!...I was locking my roots and noticed a ton of soft fuzzy new growth everywhere....my dreads are super thick now at the bases!!! My doc and nut said it does happen (sometimes) when you start treating your body well... before my surgery I was warned that it is common to lose hair, but that it would grow back...so im sure thats what everyone is referring to...I have yet to hear of anyone going bald from WLS...lol... Changing your hairstyle a bit for a short time is worth all the other benefits that WLS will give you long term...If I had to go bald to keep this new and wonderful feeling, I would do it in a minute! good luck on your journey! xxxBecca

If you hair is shedding a lot now, more than is considered normal, could be you are vitamin deficient. I suggest you start taking vitamins and biotin now and see if that helps with the hair loss. This will help out a bunch and save you some grief post-op :-)

Also, keep track of how much protein you are eating... if you are low in protein that can be a factor as well!
