Seriously?

Ok this is what I fear. I have been the same weight for this past month+. I have been working out 3-4 times a week and cutting out the carbs and trying to get in more protein. I see everyone else losing and that is awesome but what about me? I know it's great that I have lost almost 75 lbs so far but I still have a lot to go. It is just so frusterating. I fear the scale. When I get on I am almost in tears because it is the same #. Has anyone else ever had this much of a platueau? I mean no change in a month or more? I know that this is considered the honeymoon stage but this is no honeymoon for me. What can I do. I CANNOT stay this weight. There is no way. I had this surgery done as a tool but it doesn't seem to be helping me out right now. I am going crazy trying to figure out what to do. Any suggestions? Thanks for listening Ruth

Ruthie...I TOTALLY feel you! I just got out of a 3 and a half week plateau. I was working out almost everyday, eating right and it did not make any sense to me! I am still new to this but I lost almost 40lbs in the first 6 weeks and I think my body freaked out and was trying to hold on or something. So I can just suggest to you what I did. 1. Try cutting out more carbs...like the major ones-Potatoes, grits, rice, or any crackers or bread--really evaluate what you are eating-maybe journal for a week and see if anything seems stand out. 2. change out the workout. I was bored of the gym anyway so I did a zumba class (for info google it), I went hiking and i swam instead of the normal gym workout. 3. try upping the water intake.  I dont know exactly what else do suggest, I am sure there will be others with more advice who are further along-but those are some changes that worked for me. If all else fails, Call your nutritionist from surgery I am sure they see this happen and know what to advise.

A plateau is when you do not lose pounds OR inches for four weeks or longer - so my frist question would be - have you lost inches? If you havent lost pounds OR inches I would call your NUT and have them look over your nutrition. Honestly there is no reason to cut out carbs - just make sure your carbs are balanced and you are limiting the bread/starch... your body NEEDS cards - especially if you are working out! As for working out - many people experience a stall at the scale when they start working out, especially if you are incorporating weight training... so again check your inches.  If you are not logging your food I would start... make sure you are eating balanced and eating enough... if you need more protein then work on getting more protein in and watch how much fat you are eating!
