Insurance, Frustration, and Tears

My Insurance Company is the Devil.....Everytime I call I get treated disrepectfully, I am givenn mis -information- and the buck is always handed off. They will ask you to hold and tell you that they are going to transfer you then it will hang up on you. I am starting to think this is a trained method for them because it keeps happening. I am asking simple questions which I am sure they are asked every day. I am frustrated by the time I pull the up the courage to call them again It is always the same thing. i swear my last 3 tries to call them have ended in hang-ups. I am frustrated and confused. I wish I new someone that had my insurance that was approved. Well I feel better and I am going to try to make a another call before they close at 5:00 (acually 4:40) Thanks for reading!  Jamie

Hey, sorry to hear you're having problems with your insurance company.  I work in insurance, although I do Auto (claims adjuster)....but the licensing is all the same :) If they keep hanging up on you, or giving you incorrect info every time you call, you can always call your state insurance commissioner...I don't know who your ins company is, but I know my company hates to hear from the insurance commissioners office....they always light a fire under our butts when they get called.  However every company is different in how they handle their commissioner complaints, so it may get them to act straight, or it may not.  Just don't give up, be persistent!! Every time you call write down the date, time and who you spoke to and what happened. If you get disconnected or hung up on immediately call back and ask for a supervisor... explain to them what has been happening and make them be your ONE point of contact and have them do some work and follow up for you. Also give your phone number at the beginning of the call - specifically state if you get hung up on/discoed you want the rep to call you back... this is the policy of most major insurance companies these days (I know cigna and BCBS it is)... theres no excuse for bad service.  If they are wanting to transfer you ask for the direct phone number to where they are transferring and the name of the department so you can call there directly next time. You can also request that the rep stay on the line WITH you until somebody picks up in the department where they are transferring you... most insurance companies require their reps to stay on the phone ONLY if the person calling asks... its typically not their policy to offer.  If you are trying to verify your benefits or find out prequalifications... the HR where you work should have them in writing (the benefits) as for prequalifications you can ask for the insurance to send them in writing to you. Also let the surgeons office know what is going on and see if they can help you out some with reaching the insurance.

Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)
