Hi everyone.  I rarely ever post on here, but thought in this case I would. I am 25, had surgery 4 months ago ( I was 24).  I have lost 96 lbs.  I feel I am losing waaaayyyyyy too fast.  But, I also heard the younger you are, the quicker you lose.  Is there any truth to this or am I shedding lbs too quickly?  I have an appt next week and was going to talk to my doc.  Just wanted to see your input too. Thanks a bunch!

Hey...wow, 96 pounds in 4 months sounds like a lot of weight to lose!!!!  Have you been working out TONS or hardly eating???  I think as long as your getting all your protein in and being healthy, it should be okay.  I would definitely talk to your Dr. though if you're concerned.  Usually people who get the DS don't even lose that much, and it's the type of surgery that has the quickest/highest amount of weight loss.  I have also heard that the younger you are the more you can lose, so that could be the case also.  Sorry I don't have an exact answer.  I'm just over two months out and have lost over 60 pounds, so maybe by 4 months I might have lost around as much as you, but I am not sure if that will be the case....I also had a diff. type of surgery though. Good luck and hope everything is okay!  Keep us posted on what the Dr. says, I'm curious to hear!!

I have heard the higher your BMI, the faster you lose. Don't worry though! Just call your doctor if you become overly comcerned! Congrats! Holli

Hey remember me, I used to live in Columbia..anyway check with your doctor but basically the larger you are the higher the numbef of calories your body uses each day to maintain...so if you are eating 1000 calories a day and at your current weight your body requies 4500 calories(just an example - at my high of 297 I was using 3500) your body will have to make up that 3500 calorie deficit from somewhere - mostly stored body fat which provides 3500 calories per pound - so at that weight if you ate 1000 calories a day you could expect to lose up to a pound a day...follow?

There are many factors that determin how quickly you will lose... type of surgery, how much was bypassed and how overweight you were at the time of surgery are biggest ones. As long as you are meeting your nutritional goals each and every day I personally wouldnt worry about how fast (or slow) you are losing... if you are struggling to meet your nutrition and not eating enough then I would be concerned about the quick weightloss.
