Hey Everyone , Things have been moving at a very quick pace as of lately  . I am in month 6 of my PCP 6 month diet. I had my seminar 10-23 and I have an appointment with my surgeon, psych eval and dietician all on 11-7 then the paper work is submitted to my insurance on 11-20. So yes.. things are a bit hectic. I have a question for some of you. Tell me about your experience at your psych eval. I am a tad nervous about it because I suffer from depression. I am not going to say something too off the handle to them... but I am just curious how personal did it get when u guys met with them ? Thanks, Jazzi

HI,

I had my psych evaluation a few weeks ago, depression, alcoholism, eating disorder and family support are the major things they seem to look for in my opinion. If you did suffer from depression just tell them that your doing a lot better, or maybe that it was because of your weight and that you are now taking better steps in dealing with it or even tell them that you are open to getting counseling after surgery. My psych told me that depression is the number 1 thing that most weight lost patients deal with after surgery. Well any ways I hope this was some help. Best of Luck

Kim

my pysch eval was no big deal. She basically just asked me some questions, about things that might occur after weight loss. Such as, " are you aware that many people have changes in relationships." Just to see if I was awre of everything that went along with thesurgery. Also she did warn me about deppression. She said theis is a mjor physicall change to your body and alot of people experience depression that is esailly cleared up with medication.

Mine was about support, family history, and my "relationship" with food. I am required to do therapy through the surgery experience because I have GAD and OCD, but it's actually really neat.  Just make sure you get someone you are comfortable with.

i just recently did my psych eval, i told him that i have anxiety and ocd, and am on medication for this (zoloft) i also see a theripist. in my letter to the dr he wrote that he thinks i suffer from some depression and body image due to obesity and thinks surgery will improve if noit dissolve the issue. my psych thought it was really important to have support, the best thing is just to be honest, the last thing you want to do is get caught in a lie. also remember that the have a degree in reading people. also my eval was scheduled for an hour but i was out of there in 1/2 an hour. he sais i had done my research and knew what i was getting into.
