Confessions of a Non-Dumper

So i told myself when i began this journey, that sugar was off limits forever. Which in the past 7 months hasn't been hard at all because when i want something sweet i would just have a peice of sugar free chocolate. I've always been a carbs person more than a sweets person anyways. Until last night.  So i was going on a 3rd date with this guy (he's amazing by the way). He knows i've had this surgery and everything, i told him right away because i'm not ashamed and it's hard not to notice! We're going out to dinner and he made reservations for 7, where i do not know. We get there and it's a place called the melting pot, i'm sure some of you have heard of it. It's a fondue place where you cook everything yourself. I loved the atmosphere in there, it was super romantic and lovely.  We're sitting at the table, he orders us a bottle of wine (i love wine i can't help it! No flamers!) and is like "i'll take care of the food ordering if that's ok!" And of course i say that's fine because frankly, i hate making decisions. He orders us the big night out dinner for 2 or something, which comes with cheese fondue, salad, the main course and chocolate fondue. TONS OF FOOD.  So dinner takes 3 hours for the whole thing, which i liked but isn't the best for us WLS patrons. I had some cheese fondue with a few little peices of bread and mostly with cauliflower, i had about 4 bites of my salad, and maybe 3/4 cup of meet and veggies when we made the dinner BUT THEN....the chocolate fondue came and well, i couldn't say no! It was super romantic and fun and well obviously he wanted to feed me a chocolate covered strawberry.  And so i had that, a chocolate covered peice of banana, a bite of chocolate covered cheeecake and another peice of strawberry. I was thinking the whole time...i wonder if this will make me sick. It didn't. I never felt better. So now i know  that this whole dumping  thing doesn't so much work for me, even if i wi**** did.  And you know what? I don't regret anything last night. I did drink a bit with my meal and it was wine,  i ate carbs before protein and i had chocolate and i didn't dump. It was the best date i've ever been on and for once it wasn't about the food, although there was tons of it. I couldn't of cared less about that, it was the company i wanted.  Don't get me wrong, this isn't something i'm going to do all the time, but for the first time, i didn't regret it and i loved that feeling. I think it's how food should be for us.

Alex, congrats on having fun on your date.  That is how my anniversary dinner is with my husband we go to the same resturant and sit at the same table, and its about the romance, and the fireplace and being together, not about the food.  I am glad you didn't dump because that probably would have put a damper on the end of your date. I am glad you had fun, sounds like you found a great guy!
