Dealing with stress after WLS...

Before surgery I was an emotional over-eater but now I find that I cannot eat when I get stressed.  I had just eaten lunch today and then got a phone call and got in a huge fight with someone was really important to me so it really upset me.  Within 10 minutes I got a upset tummy and threw it all up.  Does this happen to anyone else?

I find when I'm stressed since surgery I do feel sick...a few times I woke up late and was running around trying to get ready for work and eat and everything....ended up getting sick a couple times because of that and I think it was just the stress of it all.  I now have to wake up like 2 hours early to get ready in time!!!  I have been stressed emotionally at other times and not had that same feeling, I think it was more because I was running around trying to get ready and was getting exhausted too because this was only a few weeks after surgery.  It is hard not to rely on food when stressed, I've been using swimming as a stress reliever which has really been helping.  Good luck, hope everything works out okay!!! Thank you for your response.  I think i will get back into the gym again, I need to anyway.  I guess there never has been an easy way to deal with a broken heart, it's just a tad bit harder now that food cant buffer the pain.

hey kim i had that same problem too...one day when i got called into work on short notice i rushed out of my house like a bat out of hell and by the time i made it to work and calmed down i felt like i was going to throw up ans sure enough i did...not a great feeling...that was actually the first time i had thrown up post-op....so now i make sure that i wake up extra early too...i started jogging after work to releave stress as opposed to having a drink or eating like i used to.

Yeah, I even had to pull over on the way to work once to get sick...not fun at all!!!!  I think exercise is the key!!!

I am not a thrower-upper so that doesnt happen to me. When I am stressed now I find exercise is the best release... I sweat out the stress :-) Depending on the level of stress I have a few different things I do... take a hot bath, make a few phone calls, walk around the mall, play with my cats... just anything to take my mind off the issue and help me relax some.
