Hello!!!, I'm Stephanie. I am having a hard time deciding if i should have th lap band or rny ?  Could you please give me feedback and tell me how you decided?  How much have you lost with lap band or rny? If you had the lap band do you have any regrets you didnt have the rny or vise versa? Did you have any complications? Thank you soooooo soooo sooo much. I appreciate the time you take to read this or give your feedback. thanks so much.  -Stephanie

PS...you should come to the support group at the Good Sam hospital....off of 85 and Bascom.  It's a lot of fun and you could ask tons of questions there and we could meet!!!  It's the first and third Tuesday of the month (so this coming Tuesday is one).  It's $5 and it's TONS of fun, let me know if you want more info!!!

Hi Stephanie!!!  I chose the RNY with a Silastic Ring to ensure I lost weight.  I had over 200 pounds to lose and I'm still trying to lose that last 20 lol.  The Silastic Ring is to help maintain my loss and keep the pouch from stretching... we'll see how that goes, he he. I've lost 190 pounds with my RNY... that does include my 13 pounds of skin from my tummy tuck... so roughly 177 with the RNY.  I'm still losing... slowly, but I'm working at it... so I will see 175 one day!  I started at 393. I would do the RNY again in a heart beat.  The lap band, I fear would not have offered me the results I have today. Any more questions?  Ask Away!!!

Thank you Jaci!! Yeah i have about 100 pounds to 130 pounds to lose..I am just scared if I get the lapband then I will not lose weight good or I will fail faster. LOL And then the RNY scares me a lil because I hear there is a 1-50 chance of dying in the 30 days after surgery and 1-200 risk of dying during surgery and i am scared my staples will cause me to have a leak. lol I know i could die form being over weight or a car could hit me.  And Kimberly Thank you! I would love to come. What times are it at? That would be fantastic.  My surgeon doesnt currently do the DS or i would consider it!!!

Are those really your surgeon's statistics?  You might want to use another one lol.  My doc in Modesto has a super low mortality rate... like around 2% if that!

Last time I did the math, 1-50 and 2% are the same thing.

Hey, the support groups every other Tuesday are from 7-9pm and are in the gray trailers by the east entrance of the hospital!!!!  That stinks your surgeon doesn't offer the DS, it's my surgery of choice, but of course I'm biased!!!!!!!!!!!
