Psych Eval...Help!
Hey All,
My psych eval just got moved up two weeks to TODAY! Everything is happening so fast and I haven’t spent any time thinking about what the eval is going to be like and now I'm super duper nervous! I have seen a counselor before, and was even diagnosed with clinical depression about a year ago but I was able to pull through and am feeling much better now. I did not disclose ANY of this to anyone and would really rather not as I'm afraid that it might set back my surgery process. What do you all think I should do? The only reason that I can think of as to why I SHOULD tell them is that they might find out anyway and then I'll really look stupid. Eeeek, I thought I had a little more time to sort out my dilemma!
Slow down and take a breath! Be yourself! The goal of my psych eval was to make sure that mentally I understood the changes that were about to happen in my life, that I mentally could handle that and that there were no undiagnosed mental illnesses. Just like with a cardio eval...they check your heart to make sure it is ok and if it isn't they fix it. The same resonates here. Don't worry about the depression either. MOST bariatric patients have been depressed at some point and most have been depressed for a LONG time. Just another one of those things that they want to make sure they are treating... Wishing you best of luck today and let us know how it goes!!! Candice
