In my info packet from my doctor, it says I will get a script for a pain med to be filled post surgery. What were you guys prescribed? I'm allergic to codiene, and I'm afraid that whatever they give me instead won't help much with the pain.  While on the topic, how much pain were you guys in post op? I'm having RNY..I wonder if that will be more or less painful than lap band..Any thoughts?

I don't remember what pain meds I got after my RNY... but the only time I took 'em was when I over did myself that day... sorta to sleep.  It was a liquid.  I didn't have alot of pain.  Only pain I had was in my shoulder from the gas :)

I was given liquid hydrocodone. I was in terrible pain right after surgery. It felt like bad cramps and it was just very sore. After I got out of the hospital the pain wasn't bad at all liquid tylenol was enough for me.

I took pill form of Vicodin. Well.. that's what I was given atleast. I however only took tylenol once and that was the night I came home. :) Everyone is different though.

Well I took Liquid Hydrocodone.  And I filled two scrips worth. I'm a *****!  I hurt! I took it mostly at night time though.

I was given darvocet. I cant have morphine, vicoden, codine etc....things in that family. Well I never filled the script. I never found the pain to need it. But they had to give me something strong because of my pain tolerance. Cause if the pain finally got to a point when I needed it it had to be strong meds or it wouldn't do squat. And I was an open procedure.

I was given Vicodin... however it made me dryheave so they gave me something else. Honestly I did not take any pain meds when I left the hospital... I didnt even use the morphine pump in the hospital. I had no post-op pain... most pain I had was sleeping in that uncomfy hospital bed!!!
