just curious - lap banders: alchohol?

I was just thinking that I may have given bad advice....I  assume that with a lap-band alchohol doesn't effect you any differently then before surgery because the physiology is essentially the same as before. So the only concerns would be the empty excess calories and the risk of transfer addiction.... Am I correct in this analysis? or am I missing something? Please let me know!

I drink a lot.  The RULES say you aren't supposed drink alcohol, or little, if any.  I say, rules are for squares.  I do things my way.  And I'm still alive.

Well, The way my surgeon exlained it to me is that you will be a cheap date too!  Just like RNY becuase the band forms a small pouch, similar to RNY i guess. And my Friend who had it in april has a very low tolerance.  She used to drink and drink and not feel anything... Now one drink and shes gone!

There are rumors that alcohol will help erosion to the band, so drinking isn't recommended.

Let it erode.  I am not gonna stop living my life, and, yes, that includes a fair amount of drinking.
