first of i wanna say thank u to the person who posted the 5k challenge. it is something i have wanted to do for a long time.i have been training for 5 weeks now and start week 6 tomorrow morning. sorry i can't remember who originally posted the challenge but i thank u! ok now for the wow moment. so on day three of week 5 on the training program was to run 2 miles. and i'll be damned if i did it without stopping. i was so excited when i was done, and very fricken tired. this may not be a huge thing to a lot of people, but i know u guys will appreciate how big of an accomplishment that was. and just to let u all know, my 5k is on oct. 13. my training takes me pretty much right up to this date. i am already registered and paid so i gotta do it now. i am so excited for this.

That is awesome! I made the 5k distance a goal early on and have been doing it since about two months post-op - but mostly walking 3.2 mph....I have been jogging more and more of it but usually no more then a quarter mile at a time....I'm going to do my first "real" (non-treadmill) 5k next month in Scottsdale, AZ at the local Walk From Obesity event....Any other Phoenix twenty-somethings planning on participating?

You are doing awesome. i am about a week behind you on my training. It is going okay for me. My main challenge is finding time to get my training in. Glad you posted. It is really encouraging. I will try and step up my training now. You are doing freaking awesome! Let us all know how your 5k on the 13th goes.

WOW! thats great! I just started working out so i did 1 mile a couple of days ago and i'm working on completing 2 miles soon! (just walking not running yet, i guess i could sprint once in a while, i should do that!)

Great job! Keep it up! I'm sure you'll do great in the 5k.

I think that is great. I saw the couch to 5k running plan and I thought it would be a great thing to try. I got to the first day of week 3 and could not go any further. It seemed like an easy enough plan when I started but I am just not able to keep on the designated schedule. How are you doing with moving on to the more difficult steps. I thought maybe I should loose a bit more weight and try again in a few weeks.
