Ok I am wondering for those of you who had to do the supervised diet at what point during you pre-op did they let you know that. Did your ins company tell you that once you inquired about the surgery or did it happen when you went to see one of the specialist......................reason being is that I got a list of things that my ins company required before they will approve and it does list consult with the norm but it doesnt specify the supervised diet...........................just curious any answers would be a great help!

Trying to workout to drop the lbs first. Wish me luck! Still not sure if WLS is right for me.

When I called my Ins. To see if it was a covered benefit they gave me all the details about what was required and not.  I asked specifically about the medically sup. diet, and it was not required.  Then I called back 3 days later just to make sure.

If they didn't mention it most likely you dont need to.  But give them a call if you want to be certian. And Good Luck!!!

I had BCBS PPO and they didnt require. I would call and ask to be 110% sure.

I would just call my surgeon's office if I were you....It is sounding like your insurance company doesn't require it, but a lot of surgeons seem to require it themselves, so I would just double check, with them and the insurance company too...
