Snacking at work
GURRR I have a problem. I feel like I am snacking at work all the time. I bring "planned snacks" and I am still munching in between snacks and meals!! I try to bring string cheese or apple sauce or some crackers but they just don't take care of my snack "itch" Does anyone have any ideas? Something that has some nice crunch? Should I go see a NUT? I haven't seen 1 since surgery
I also need help on meals. I am supposed to be progressing from soft to regular foods next week. Any ideas?

Sounds to me like you are munching because you are bored... not because you are hungry. Make sure you are focusing on getting in your fluids... early out there isnt much time to keep munching when you cannot drink a 1/2 hour (or whatever your surgeon says) before eating. Since you are still early out snacks should be protein to help you meet your daily goals... if you are eating non-protein snacks it is going to make it hard for you to reach your protein goals when you stop taking protein suppliments (if you are). If you are looking for crunch I would suggest making pepperoni chips or homemade 'cheez its' (you can find both recipies on food.com). Soy crisps are another good choice but lower in protein... if you are doing crackers put a *little* natural pnut butter on them... if you are allowed fruit apples with some pnut butter are good too.
I saw a NUT at 2 weeks out when I moved from liquids to soft foods... I then saw the NUT again when I moved from soft foods to normal eating... I would call your surgeon and see what they suggest!
