Hey you what to do?
I will be having all my tests complete, letter of medical necessity, psych eval done.
What happens next?
Do I have to turn the paperwork in myself to the surgeon, or does the surgeon request the paperwork from the PCP, then give to the insurance company.
I need to know what to do next?
I wanna get my surgery in December!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You should have filled out a form allowing your medical records to be released... either at your PCPs office or at your Surgeons. You will have to ask your surgeons office who is responsible to get your records over there. I did everything thru my surgeon... prior to my frist visit I had my medical records sent over from my PCPs office, along with a letter of medical necessity and after that my PCP was 'out of the loop' when it came to the process.
As for whats next... once you complete everything required your surgeon will send in the request to insurance to review. If you havent already, I would call the insurance company to be 100% sure what they require.. many times people are 'suprised' that they have to do a supervised diet.
Remember that the process takes time... some people zip thru and have no problems getting approval and surgery in a few months... for others it takes much much longer. For me the process took 9 months. Its good to have a time frame you would like to have surgery... but just keep in mind that it may take longer - or even shorter!
