I haven't had any problems with holding food down. I haven't thrown up yet and I hope it stays that way!!!
Yes, I was having a hard time with not being able to eat what I want, but it's alot easier now. Plus, I worked too long and hard to have this surgery to whine about not being able to eat what I want.
It is still hard to read on the message boards what other people are eating, because my doctor has a very strict diet. I am 7 weeks post-op and just started having soft foods. I have been on liquids since my surgery. I am not allowed to have chicken or turkey until 3 months post-op and beed or por****il 9 months post-op. That is very hard to think about, but my doctor wants her patients to heal before trying to eat heavy foods like that.
But....I have tried to eat some pizza. BIG MISTAKE! It was just thin crust cheese pizza, but I was so sick. Like I said, I've never thrown up, but at that point I wish that I could have! My stomach hurt soooooooooo bad! I think I'll wait until I get the 'ok' before I eat pizza again!!!
Hi Jessica! I'm roughly 20 months out and still am testing the waters so to speak. Follow your surgeon's protocol... they know what they're talking about. :)
Of course there were things I wanted right after surgery- but I found out that was head hunger. We are bombarded by food all the time... commercials on tv and radio, billboards, family... so no wonder when we see the advertisments, we want that :) After awhile it totally won't affect you :)
A cool thing about our surgery- if the food you try doesn't sit right one day it just might sit better a few days later... kind of like coaxing our pouch I guess lol. Do remember the surgery is a tool... its not meant to restrict us to a specific way of life... we have to try it out and see how it works for us individually :)
Good luck, dear!
